The thing I like so much about Hikikomori that I don't really find in a lot of other literature is this complete disconnect from the world. Ellen and Tao live in their rooms. They exist in this small, physical space as far as we know, but really they don't even inhabit that. THey're both completely absorbed in their own minds, and the only outside interaction they seem to have is with each other. Their personalities are not revealed in an obvious way, they're slowly uncovered through ways of speaking and metaphoric stories. Something you should probably keep in mind for Psithurisma (I don't know if you already noticed this, I just thought I'd share) is the way that Tao and Ellen's characters are revealed through everything small, even down to the way they type, capitalize, punctuate, and spell, which differs between the two characters.
I feel it's worth noting that Nate and I are both atheist.
