Journal Spam

Well I thought if I was going to do this then it might as well be format appropriate. So, what exactly constitutes journal spam?Chain Letters? (a clue: yes)Surveys? (a clue: no)Posting 'this is spam' repeatedly in journal comments? (a clue: yes!)*According to Druscilla, "I was fairly certain I heard somewhere that surveys and things of that nature that a person fills out doesn't actually constitute...

Yay creativity!

So what started in February with my desire to properly take up sewing again (I learned when I was twelve but never really did anything with it) has now developed into a general obsession with fabric-based creativity. Over the past two weeks I have madeThis headband, scarf and top (which you can barely see, but still)This dress (again, sorry for the scene-ish bad angle but I couldn't do any...

Who is Matt Smith?

Because I know most of you are thinking it (just like I bet many people hadn't heard of Elizabeth Gaskell, the 19th century author whose name I stole for my last username) and because I'm in a particularly fangirly mood I decided to make a little journal about him.Matt Smith is a British actor currently masquerading as the Eleventh incarnation of the Doctor. At 27, he's the youngest actor ever to...

'Real Women'

When people call plus-size/larger women 'real women'. As in, oh, 'it's nice to see real women in a magazine for a change'.I don't know why but it really bugs me.I'm neither overweight nor underweight (according to my own self-perception anyway). So I'm a) not conforming to the mainstream ideal of the female body shape because I'm not thin enough and b) not a 'real woman' because I'm not big...

What I Did Today

Well, I got woken up at five AM by the fire alarm, went to class, read some of Sidney's The Defence of Poesy and ate chips with salt and sauce. Being that I am a native Northerner I cannot physically consume chips without gravy, but Scottish chippies have this thing called 'sauce' which nobody as yet has explained to me, even my family from Livingston don't seem to be sure exactly what it is. It's...

Cloud Nine: On cross gender casting and subversion of gender roles

I'm only slightly taking the piss with this journal title. I sort of wanted to see if anyone would actually read it. Basically, I've just finished reading the play Cloud Nine by Caryl Churchill and, people of Mibba, it blew my mind. I mean, look at the stage directions:ACT ICLIVEBETTY, his wife, played by a manJOSHUA, his black servant, played by a whiteEDWARD, his son, played by a womanVICTORIA,...

Vecka tvÄ

So, I don't really use the journal feature on Mibba, but I haven't made one since 2008 and I think I should make an effort for it to be at least an annual thing. Hm. So the topic of this journal is going to be university, since I think that's fairly worthwhile (I can't remember if that rule existed the last time I updated or not) and I think we can all agree that the pursuit of knowledge is a...

So I've just spent the afternoon going through my old journals on here. They made me laugh so much; partially having a good laugh at myself, partially some of the conversations I'd posted and such. God, I miss those times. Those hilarious MSN conversations that just used to make me cry and shake with laughter. Molly especially; those were amazing. I want to laugh like that again. I also want to be...

Exam Results

So for my AS Levels (which is half of an A-Level), I got AAAAB.The A grades were in English Literature, English Language, Spanish and Critical Thinking. The B was for Politics.Apparently I'm the first pupil to get 100% on the reading paper in Spanish, which was cool. And I got the highest Critical Thinking mark in the year. I'm super happy with those grades, because I honestly didn't think I would...

Internet Time!

So I'm starting college tomorrow. English Language, English Literature, Spanish, Politics and Critical Thinking, did I mention? Yeah.Well, I did ok in my GCSEs, I got all the right grades (Spanish, A*!), I pulled a 'wtf' face with my H&S grade but I will always be thankful that the class of 2007 finally burst that bitch's ego and thus freed further generations of her arrogance. CC, just like...

02 days, 01 hours, 24 minutes until Deathly Hallows is released. =DSo tomorrow. I have to get up early again, and stay awake all day, 'cause I'll be the only person in the house when my brothers Wii gets delieved and I have to sign for the packages and shit. And today? I got up early. I was exhausted, but I still did it. All so I could sign for the bloody Wii if it got here today. It didn't. And...

floating awaaaaaaaaaaaay

well, I feel like that anyway.I just got back from hospital like an hour ago and I'm full of drugs and other funky stuff.I got up at 6 AM, was in the theatre for 9 AM and back on the ward for 10. I was only really nervous when I was in the room where they put you to sleep. I didn't have any emla cream on so all the anaesthetist guys were trying to distract me from having a canula put in my hand. I...

I am going to be anaesthetised

tomorrow. So, yeah, I'm having a 'camera test' or endoscope or however they call it now. Which basically means I'll be put to sleep and they'll stick an optic fibre down my throat and into my gut. But if you like me, don't worry, I only didn't-wake-up from anaesthetic once, and I was really ill at the time, so I'll be fine. If you don't like me, it's highly unlikely that I'll die or anything.This...

This really gets on my nerves.

Ok, so there two things which really fuck me off.One is people spelling my username wrong.B-l-o-o-d-r-a-i-n-e, damn you. Like blood. And rain. With an e.I don't care if my username is based on a typo of a crappy vampire flick/videogame, I have never seen BloodRayne but I liked the typo so stfu. As if I'm going to change the username I've had everywhere since nigh on two years. to_oIt's funny,...

I'm going blind

yeah o_o;I hate being so tired that I can't look at the computer without blur, so I put on my glasses to take away the blur and I get a headache from my glasses. I'd get a headache from squinting anyway, so it's a catch-22 or whatever you call if I haven't had enough surgery. In other news; the blahs are gone. Woo. I'm waiting for the backlash. And jesus...

Jesus T_T

I never knew I was so untidy.I told my mum this morning that I would tidy my bedroom; yesterday I tidied the computer and that was grotty enough. >_>But yeah, my bedroom is just one big bombsite. The amount of paper in there is enough to build a whole oak tree from, I bet. And I think I'll tidy the landing too, but that's so full of fucking paper too. I should just light a fire and burn the...
