I vaguely remember not liking Dundee's website too. which is why I didn't apply to them, but to the seemingly sunny Aberdeen. by the way, are you only applying to Scottish unis?

same, I don't think I'll be getting a job in the next two or three weeks and the weekend would be perfect. I pmed Meg and we'll see what she says since she has to travel by train and all. I really can't wait. where do you suggest we go?

Ghh. X_X I'm so glad I'm already in uni, things were easier back in my day. your Scottish so contextual factors apply (Edinburgh favours Scottish students) and all. I'm sure you'll do fine, really. you're bright and you have good grades and you'll write an awesome personal statement.

At least Edinburgh ask for somewhat lower, more realistic grades. I think it's partially because the economy is as it is and all unis try to get as elite as possible so they'll rank well in tops and get a lot of funding.

George Eliot actually made me rethink my attitude towards Victorian lit (which up to that point was just "ghh"), it's a shame she's not as popular as other women writers that wrote around the same time like Jane Austen or the Brontes. Just let me know when you want to met. hopefully soonish because I have a feeling autumn's not picnic weather in Scotland XD I'd make cookies/muffins/sponge cake sandwiches, but I don't have any baking equipment. though I promise you I'll cake picnic-y sweets at some latter date.

I cannot believe Glasgow changed their offer, it'd just ridiculous. I've heard there are all sorts of plans to change the uni, they've already changed the names of most departments and organized them in colleges - which drastically reduces the variety of courses students can take- and it's rumoured that they're planning to get rid of one of the unions. :/ anyway, you shouldn't worry about it so early on. you've just started your French and Maths courses and there's really no way of telling how you'll do later on. hey we should have picnic one of these days. I really, really like picnics. well, maybe, not a picnic, an outdoors tea party. just sit outside and drink tea and eat sandwiches and forget all about school and families and room-mates and ponder over how George Eliot was in fact a lovely person.

don't you still go to school in the city, though? I'm jealous of you for having lived in a city for so long, I've spent most of my life in rural-ish suburbs. XD
and don't worry that much about homework/school - I have a feeling uni/Oxford has something to do with it so I feel obliged to tell you that you still have time, both to decide what you want to do and to prepare yourself for it (you have no idea how much English literature I've read in the last year and what a n00b I was at it last September) and that, after all, nobody needs to go to Oxford to have a happy successful nice life and that wherever you go, I'm sure it's going to be a brilliant uni and on the long run it won't matter that much anyway. so, basically, it's still to be upset over something so silly.

nice stationary is the key to academic success so I am willing to go all the way to the city center for it. it's only a 30 minute walk, I love exploring the city and I have nothing better to do anyway. in what part of Glasgow do you live?

I will do go there the next time rain catches me in the park again, which will probably be pretty soon. :) n'aww, I really really like Glasgow, at least the West End bits I've seen. it's really nice and friendly and cozy and I feel like I'm going to like it here a lot. the only problem is that my room-mate's a bully who's constantly questioning me and I don't really know anyone else because I arrived too late for the international orientation thing. so my mood oscillates between gleefulness and despair several times a day. but I really like it here and starting with Wednesday I'm going to live in the library (we have to turn in our first exercise/essay in 3 weeks and the secondary reading list is monstrous D: so there are plenty of things to do there) and everything'll be just fine.
by the way, do you know where I could buy nice stationary?

I went there both yesterday and today because it seemed like the best place to hide from the rain while I was walking around the park. XD it's really lovely. I haven't seen everything yet because I don't like seeing too much at once in museums, but I saw most of the ground floor. it's so awesome. and so, dunno, loud. it's full of kids and people taking pictures and talking. I've never been to a museum that allowed people to be loud and lively before. XD

I dunno. rainy and lovely. I haven't been to many places because Glasgow's so huge and hilly. but I did walk around the uni and to the city center and it was lovely and lively and fun. I'm really excited about the many many museums I've seen around here.
