That's what you got to do when you get frustrated with something, just take the break for a bit. I have to do the same thing, sometimes. I'll get frustrated, or won't know how to put something, or just lose my heart for it. So, take time off, do some other sketching to keep your mind running a bit and relax. You can't overwork your head if you're not feeling it at the moment, it won't turn out how you want it to.
Wow. That's a lot to put in...I don't know if I could be of much help. I mean, when people tell me to fish them out a tattoo design, I go all and and research. You should look up symbolism (or just buy a book on it, that's always nifty to have), mythology, etcetera. But piecing it together? That has to be up to you, if you can get everything sketched out, like, all the main figures and designs, then everything should just fall together quite nicely. You have to sit down and talk with him, too. Have your loose sketch and ask his opinion, work with him. He is the one who has to walk around with if for the rest of his life...also, a lightbox is a great essential for tattoo work. So you can make duplicates and rework from those. I don't know if that helped, but that's the best advice I could come up with.
Hahaha, that's great. That's okay, when I was working on my mural, whenever I was frustrated or tired of it, I would just splatter paint to let loose, or I would get my best friend and we would have splatter paint wars. Thank god for my teacher letting me have the artroom to myself whenever I wanted, the things I did...
Splatter painting can also come in handy for a lot of other uses. My friend needed a graduation dress, bought white one, splatter painted it. I bought a suitcase and splatter painted it so I could easily spot it, in the airport, and hey, it worked. Or, you could finger paint. Or, you can make paint balloons and throw them at your canvas. The possibilities with paint are endless. Just have fun.
I just put up the toothpaste one, and gasp: Charcoal and graphite can never get boing. A bit messy, yes, but boring, no. I looked back and saw some of your stuff in the forum, and you work with it good, you're talented, that's for sure =D I love the art store, Pearl Paint & Blick Art, oh god, I'm like on sensory overload when I'm in those, it's heaven. If I were to ever get locked in a store, those would be my choices...or Strand Bookstore...I actually have to go back to Blick soon, I need more Staedtler pens and a certain paintbrush. Are you going to post your paintings up once you finish? Because I'm kind of excited.
Yeah, I think inspiration wise, it takes place with the music I listen to, everyday objects, my favorite things in general. That's the major play, it's also the people that spur me on, that inspire me, too. My heroes, my best friends, my favorite artists. And I just love getting shocked, happy, maybe slightly offended reactions. My favorite two drawings that get the best reactions have to be the toothpaste one and the pregnancy one =D So, do you draw or dabble?
Haha, it's okay. Um, that's actually a good question, because sometimes, I don't even know. Ideas and images just pop up in my head, kind of out of nowhere. I have post-its upon post-its cluttering my room with all my ideas. I work a lot in surrealism and I definately have certain things that I like to have in my art, such as, pocketwatches, clocks, suns, moons, clouds, teapots, lanterns. Anything that can set off the mellow, surrealism that conflicts with time. That's more my niche than anything, but I have so many ideas and sometimes my ideas are too big for art. I think I'll end up on the path of writing and illustrating children's books. I can see myself doing that. Yeah...haha, I tend to rant when it comes to things I love. Sorry =D
