I know EXACTLY what you mean. I moved to Mibba from a little site called FanWorks for a few reasons, but the main one was that the Avenged Sevenfold section got taken over by what my friends and I like to refer to as "New Breeds" - simply because we couldn't bare to call them writers.
While we were writing quality work, the New Breeds would post stuff that was grammatically incorrect, horrible spelling, unformatted. Stories where you post the first chapter and then ask, "Who wants to be in my story and which of the boys do you want to be with?!" And above all, everything was about sex.
I dared to read a random chapter from a 23-year-old New Breed, thinking she must know a little better, and I found myself in the middle of a VERY graphic threesome with the author herself, Matt and Zacky. I feel it necessary to mention that she knew full well that one of her readers was only thirteen at the time.
She and said 13-year-old got on MSN together (with a few other people) and they did a massive, sex-filled role-play, which the 13yo then posted on the site. I completely snapped, left a comment almost 1,000 words long going on about how the rest of us were sick of having to see stuff like that and that it needed to stop. Half of them were 16 or younger for crying out loud.
Basically, I started an all-out war. There were casualties on both sides. These days, there's only about three authors left from that period of time. Soon to be two, because once I finish posting my current story, I'm leaving for good.
Point is, it taught me that most people on these types of sites are just hormonal teenagers who want to read about sex with their favourite bands. You just need to find the ones who are actually interested in reading proper fiction.
