You're welcome! That story is seriously too good for me not to comment. And thank you more for the comment you gave me. If anyone's day was made, it was mine. Possibly my week, too.
Hey Alison,
I'm Jess :)
I was wondering if you'd be interested in catching up with other Melbourne Mibbians? It will probs be in Jan next year.. Let me know! x
thank you so much for the story comment! you have no idea how much i appreciate it! i really liked working in a way different from that of the song. i mean, the song was the peace resulted from after storm, you know? that's kind of how i felt when i was writing this.
and thank you for wishing me luck (: this will surely be an adventure!
Haha, sometimes I don't care about character's names. As in, if I need a name, and I like the name Alexander, then I will use it :) But one of my characters, Arman March - his name is super, ridiculously important to who he is. As is Oilill. They both reveal things about the character :) ... and plot
I studied Medea two years ago, and absolutely adored it.
Yeah, I'm picky with my characters names too. With the novel I'm writing, both first and last names of the protagonist, his love interest, and the antagonist mean something, and it affects their personality. Does that make sense?
Like, Aidan means fire, and Gray is representative of bleakness, dullness, despair, so Aidan is a character that used to be bright, fiery and bubbly, but is now stuck in this depressive, socially-inhibited spiral
... yeah xD
I love mythology, and always have :)
sweet jesus that was an essay!
She got annoyed when you didn't have a character name? What? :|
Yes, Wilde is my everything (obviously) :)
I'm pretty much a buff for everything Myths & Legends, but we're studying King Arthur (yesssss!) and I think I read that Medea was to be studied too? I'm not sure. I'm just hoping we do some Norse religion; it's not looked into too much.
:| but yeah I'm excited :D
Oh really?
Look, some of the subjects are great, some are horrific. One of the cores was 'Writing Your Life' - an autobiography course. I hated it, although we didn't do much in it. All we had to do was listen to people read out 'excerpts' of their lives; write one ourselves; and do two essays. My first essay was on my gay best friend who lives in America, and my second was on a dream. That was legitimately a topic. A dream. So yeah.
The English core, an 'intro. to literature' was fun only because of my tutor. She's mad, but brilliant, and a published author :) The stories were okay too, but I was disappointed that there weren't any of Oscar Wilde's stuff in the fairytales; instead, they repeated authors a few times :|
But I digress. Yes, I like the course, but seeing as I was doing 3 englishes and a history (I've just finished Sem 1), it was a lot of writing. Next Semester I'm doing Gender Studies, Myths and Legends history, an English and a Humanities Seminar, so I hope that all goes well. I'm excited for Myths & Legends.
.. wow, this was a wee essay, I'm sorry.
Hi, I'm Ink :)
Hello! I read 'Achilles' and thought it was very cute, and then checked out your profile. I'm from Melbourne too :)
I'm doing a BA with a major in English and a sub-major in Creative Writing.
What uni do you attend?
Haha, yeah, my class is basically the shit. But it's going to be over soon :( I never cry, but I'm sure I will on the last day of classes. Hah. I actually have a really hard time identifying with one house, oddly enough. I like to think of myself as a Slytherpuff because I'm super open minded, but a huge bitch. Lul.
Haha, sorry. I tend to talk about Doctor Who as if everybody has watched ever episode billions of time like me. Ima hoe. But eehhhhhh Matt Smith. He's a bit annoying. Though I am excited for new Doctor Who :D
Lul. Well, we talk about pretty much everything Harry Potter. Last week we got into Bellatrix and her motives, this week's discussion is friendship (aka a highly Luna-Centric class) we've all already read Harry Potter, so we don't read that, but we read texts related to Harry Potter. I wrote an essay for my Midterm called 'What the Hell is a Hufflepuff' about why Hufflepuff is actually a good house to be sorted into. We had a really great time discussion the other week and I was jizzing because I was talking about both Harry Potter and Doctor Who in the same class. Lul. Harry Potter Lit (regular version) was more about how Harry relates to classic legends and Greek mythology though, so that was interesting, but not quite as fun as class discussions are in the advanced class. It's basically just magic, yo.
Lolol. Did she really? I don't really keep up with celebrities so I had no idea. That's just sort of odd, though, marrying someone who played your daughter. Hah. But yes, I know. Season Two upsets me because Rose is my favorite companion (despite how annoying she is in the first series) and The Doctor is constantly fucking things up with her (I can't even watch The Girl in the Fireplace -_-) but their discussion in Impossible Planet about how if they're stranded, they'll have to get a flat together, makes me go all fan girlish and New Earth... there are no words for how much I love that episode, haha, so I do like the second series the best, I think. Plus, Cassandra... best character ever, even if she is a skin flap. Lul.
-__- I know the feeling. I just got off winter recess. But I have Advanced Harry Potter Lit today, so that's always a plus. And yes, that is a real class :D
Anyway, I have half a comment that I still haven't finished for We Burst At The Seams which I only haven't finished at this point because I'm just lazy, if anything, you should be boycotting commenting anything until I'm done being a lazy twat! Lul. But for realzies, I'll probably post that after HP Lit. That class usually gets my inner reader pumped for obvious reasons.
Lul, yeah, she's the Doctor's Daughter, which is slightly awkward for me considering my massive mancrush on David Tennant, but oh well. And that's in season four, episode seven, so if you have the DVD, you have it. Lul. Yeah, I'm, like, only a slight nerd.
Oh and I'm Jenny, btw. I definitely stole my username from the character in Doctor Who who (god, that sounds awkward) shares my name so you may or may not have already guessed that depending on your Doctor Who watching preferences.
:) No problem. Sometimes writers just skip over things like that (I do all the time) and it takes an outsider's perspective to notice that sort of thing. I've got another comment coming for your other Remus/Sirius oneshot (that I can't remember the name of) but I haven't had time to finish it. I'm really enjoying your one-shots, by the way :)
Just in the comments is fine, honestly. It's the least effort and I'm all for laziness lol.
