this country. this country is so homophobic it hurts. it just hurts.
I'm so sorry. it seemed out of place to quote you in the thread, but I felt so sad and powerless when I read your post and I really wanted to give you a hug (albeit a cold, internet one). I'm from Central / Eastern Europe too and I relate 100% because this is my train of thought whenever I remember home.
i don't think it's that people are afraid to be happy online. they're probably more afraid to be depressed in real life. the internet is a safe place, a sanctuary, a place where you don't have to worry about being depressed coming back and biting you in the ass in the real world. you can talk about your depression to extreme lengths and be completely safe because parents, co-workers, friends, bosses, etc. won't see it.
those people would be okay with one being happy, but no one being depressed.
i don't think all these people are depressed like this all the time, but this is the safe place.
kinda like there's so much fanfiction online 'cause there's no where else to publish it.
I KNOW RIGHT THEY ARE AMAZING AND FANTASTIC AND TRAGICALLY UNDERRATED AND ASFGSHDGHDHD DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE SUBJECT BECAUSE THEN I'LL NEVER SHUT UP. (Oh, and out of curiosity... how exactly did you manage to find me? ahaha)
no, no, that's fine :]
yes, I know exactly what you mean :) I love that moment when you just have this sort of epiphany and everything feels so right. I'm so at peace then.
OHMYGOSH, RON. I loved him so very much. And when he climbs that mountain? oh lord.
yeah, I agree :] I don't know, I don't always necessarily feel trapped, I just like the idea of freedom. I'm pretty much always climbing trees or going bushwalking anyway, it doesn't feel so far removed to just immerse myself entirely. I like the idea of 'going native' :P.
Nature is so precious and so peaceful and so wholly consuming that I feel I can just be me amongst the leaves. Call it my aboriginal gene :P
ahaha yeah, tracey was... yes. But I loved all the others, especially Rainey. And those swedish backpackers :P ahaaha.
I've read parts, and I found it really interesting :) you'll have to tell me what you think.
ahaha the fates have interevened :P
I agree!! I just love that whole thing. I love every part of the movie. How it was shot, the dialogue, everything. It was so powerful. And the way that Christopher MacCandless thinks... I don't know, it just makes sense to me. Do you know what I mean?
hehehe Into The Wild. It should be spread even further :)
