I've learned a lot about grief in the last few months. How it can hide itself and then suddenly pop up whenever it feels like it, slamming into you with the force of a freight train and upending your entire life. How it can turn anything ugly.
I've learned. And now I know. Now I know how he must've felt. Because sometimes it all feels like too much and I think of him and I get jealous. He took the easy way out and now he's at peace. And I want peace too. And sometimes I think about how easy it would be to just stop it all.
But I love life and I love my family and friends. And thanks to him, I know I will never ever take the easy road. If anything good came from what he did, it's that. Strength. He gave me strength to keep myself going.
Life is hard. That's just how it is. But I know that however difficult it gets, it's still worth it. Beautifully worth it.
As Samwise the Brave said, even darkness must pass.
A new day will come.
