So, Just Who Am I?
Hey all. My name's Ashley and I'm a Senior in high school. You know that quiet girl in class who says nothing and when she does she stutters? Yeah, that's me. I'm so shy, I define the word. When I'm with friends, though, I'm totally different. It's like somehow they give me license to be me.
I'm a major bookworm. My favorite authors of the moment are Holly Black (Tithe, not Spiderwick) and Tamora Pierce (of her many series my favorites so far are the Immortals and the Trickster books). I love to write and hate to share my work, though I'll share some here. I'm also never satisfied with what I write. I always feel like it's way too amateur.
I actually have a favorite poem (shock!). It's "The Tiger" by William Blake.
I have a mini obsession with anime, specifically, I'm sad to admit, sailor moon. Or rather, that's what it all started with. My two favorite anime's right now are Vamp Knight and Toradora. I also loved the movie Spirited Away when I saw it a couple of years ago, but I haven't seen it since then because I had to return it to my cousin and she's stingy with her movies. I really liked Princess Mononoke, too. I recently discovered Lovely Complex, because I was given the manga, and I really like it. Ouran High Host Club was cute, too and Soul Eater.... There may be more I've yet to discover.
I'm actually new new new to the world of anime and manga. The only stuff I really read is the stuff my brother gives me. At least, that's how I start off on the stuff I read. Actually, that's a mini lie. I'm the one who discovered Vamp Knight, but otherwise, it's all him. Right now I'm reading Hana Kimi and OMG, I love it. It's just so cute. I also love Lovely Complex. The story is so funny!
I'm a hopeless romantic. It's almost sick. I love love songs and love stories and romances. I obsess over it. But I have a very limited amount of experience in any form of romance. I've only just started going out with my first boyfriend, and nothing has really happened between us. I'm not complaining, though.
I love all kinds of music. My tastes range from foreign stuff, to boy bands, to rock, to country, and even (dare I say it?) classical. (Oh, i went and said it.) The only music type I don't really like is rap. I tolerate it though. My favorite songs, as of now, are Riot by Three Days Grace, HeroHeroine by Boys Like Girls, I'm Yours by Jason Mraz, and Cheater, Cheater by Joey and Rory. I've also given myself a theme song. It's "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World. That song is basically what I'm being told all the time. I don't have very high opinions of myself.
I'm kind of strange (OK, maybe really strange, as in may just border on insanity strange) and extremely shy. Basically, I'm your average geek, but without the over-sized brain. I like to think I'm a good friend and I'm pretty sure my friends will attest to that. I'm the friend that everyone turns to for advice. What really baffles me is when my friends come to me about things they know I have absolutely no experience with. I always turn them away when they do that. They may trust me, but I certainly don't trust myself THAT much. I have a tendency to babble, a lot, which I notice I happen to be doing right now.....
