We cannot go back to the past to relive the days we used to know and yet, we should never forget those places we have been for they help to shape and change who we are so that we can be stronger, better for the places we are going. We are all different and yet we are all the same, moving forward, changing. This is what I get from your poem. Not sure if this is the "dual meaning" you meant, but it works.
