  • Wow, I am simply blown away by this poem. It never occurred to me to add poems to contests, but reading your entry really makes me believe that the option should be given more often. You really have gone beyond just describing the effects of being deaf.

I find that when I usually read about deafness there is a lot of moaning and groaning and describing how sad and lonely it is, but in such a short and simple poem you have shown that yes, it is sad to be deaf, but you ways you are also sheltered from the nastiness of pain of whispered words. This is absolutely beautiful, tragic and sweet at the same time. I wish you luck in the contest!

  • I agree with the user below me, this poem was simple, mysterious and beautiful. It began with a soft hymn and a secretive ending.

Each verse held a different meaning to what it means to be deaf. I have to say you haven't described what being deaf feels like but you've given examples and real-life experiences on what it means to be one. You did not explain to us what being deaf rather, you've made it better by sharing us a story of being one.

Short and concise, this poem did not need impressive words to explain the topic. Instead, you've used simple and easy-going words that fit all together. A good job on that one!
