This is an interesting poem -- I like the back and forth the narrator has with themselves, contradicting and arguing to make a point and prove to themselves that they are more than their past experiences. This is quite a relatable poem, especially with the use of a second person point of view -- this draws readers into your story and makes them connect.
This is a well-constructed poem, and some of my favourite lines have to be They matter as much as the next. and Why is it you are so determined to speak less? as they truly convey the mind of a troubled writer. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the feedback. <3 It's so funny to me you say those lines convey the thoughts of a troubled writer. I never wrote this poem with that thought in mind, but truthfully that's kind of exactly what it is. I wrote this as a way to reconnect with myself in hopes of getting back into writing and becoming comfortable enough with my words/thoughts in order to do so again.
So, your interpretation really means a lot and even opened my eyes to what this poem was meant to be.
