T Minus And Counting

Tick, tick, tick, tick
Detonation sequence activated.

Timer begins when first baby cries
Tiny bangle on young girl's wrist
Heartbeats sigh as time gone by
Evaporates into childhood.

Novelty faces and floral designs
Deco and groovy waves
To and for as quick as they go
Pendulum sways to motherhood.

Lest not forget, unless I digress
Such glory lay upon thine hand
Grandmother do, grandfather too
Come play with thy young on the sand.

Oh, ye olde Big Ben, what be we then?
Great or greater still?
With grace we do go
But lest should we know
Tick tock, nearer doth come the end.

Heartbeats do drop and ticking shall stop
Beware of the firebreather's cry
'Tick' he shall say
'Tick tock' then away
A gentle blast then up unto the sky.
