Angels Fall Too

A broken heart stopped beating
A quiet soul laid to rest
A treacherous life before her
Maybe it was for the best
Not a minute too early, not a minute too late
Right on time, a debut to the gate
Clouds puff out in the sky
A sunlight streak opens up
And carried her toward the world above
But before a light air of feathers were gained
One step kept her away from achieving her wings
A hole in the sky, the gateway to the world
The answer to her shaky fall
A gaspy breath before a scream
It was anything but a nightmarish dream
The crack of her bones at the ground below
A thousand foot freefall and no longer as strong
Her soul and bones all shattered
The misty blood seeping from her skin
Just goes to show
That any angel can fall.
