Sanguine

Fleeting like rain racing through the mind
Embrace the raw power which turns with the page
The heat of passion to the color of rage
Painfully clear rather than defined
Losing faith in all of mankind
The monster inside of me escaping its cage

Slipping, my mind wanders to the start
Sharper than daggers piercing through me
Warm once more, though empathetically
Cold hands like death tear through my heart
It chills through my blood, we both fell apart
Living forever, dying eternally

God-like creature infected from a horrible blight
A tree stands watch from the peak of a hill
Wind blows through its boughs with a noise quite shrill
Eyes glowing red in the darkest of night
My heartbeat audible from anticipation and fright
A few steps closer approaches until…

With the venomous kiss that left me for dead
The sky blackens and pours Heaven’s tears
Washing away my worries and fears
A shadowed trail where your victims have bled
Down that cold path I must tread
Your voice fades away and then disappears

Awaken once more, I looked to the skies
Sensory heightened, a voice in my head
“You are anew, about time you have fed”
Agile and lithe, I rose by surprise
In a pool reflected two sanguine eyes
Monster! A creature of murder and dread

Alone with my thoughts I traveled at first
Torn white regalia clung fast to pale skin
Fabric stained crimson that once came from within
Throat burning, aching from a new found thirst
My veins ran dry and my heart almost burst
No pulse is found from the corpse I live in
