Purified

You could find her sitting at the edge of the lake
She felt horrible
All that has happened over the years
Years of bottling horrible feelings inside
The need to clean herself out overwhelmed her
Her eyes bore through the thin layer of ice that covered patched of the water
Urged to jump in and let the past slip away, just two steps and a small leap
In her imagination, the freeing feeling of it, so good, so close
Perfectly aware of the temperature, she still wanted to jump in
So she did
Ran in and dove into the deepest part of the body of water
Letting herself fall down lower and lower
Brown hair freezing yet floating around her made her feel pride
Accomplished what was needed to be done to free her of all burdening emotions
Every memory vanished as she was consumed by the frigid water
Now she was completely at peace, perfect
Just what was needed
Finishing the job was next
Close to touching the bottom
Drowning never seemed this wonderful
Hit the bottom, now flat on her back
Starred up at the dark water pressuring her lungs
Seeing the night sky far, far above her, so beautiful
Now she could pass in peace
Shut eyes, sigh, water filled lungs
Blurred mind, at peace, no worries
Feeling clean, free, unburdened, purified
Spirit was detached, a copse at the bottom of the lake
That lake that purified her
