Hope

In a world so big,
I am so small.
There are people who tell me,
“You're the hope for a better world,”
and that frightens me.

In a nation so big,
I am so small.
There are people with guns,
They shoot others I may or may not know,
and that frightens me.

In a neighborhood so big,
I am so small.
There are people who are greedy,
Killing a women right down the street from my home,
and that frightens me.

In a world so big,
I am so small.
There are people who tell me,
“You're the generation that will make this world better,”
and that frightens me.
