Imagination

I lay on my back,
in the prickles of the grass.
Feeling the twitches of excitement beneath me.
The air is clear,
moving in dream like wisps around me.

Ashes on the ground,
burnt cigarette butts sizzling.
Feeling fragments of life trembling beneath me.
The tree sap is sweet,
dripping in slow channels down the bark.

Smiles rest on faces,
content to relax in their imagination.
Feeling fresh relaxation settle on their skin.
The smell of white flowers surround,
making rotted life vanish for just a moment.

A torture chamber looms in the distance,
looking like a rotted life about to end.
Feeling depression seep into my veins.
The air is now muggy,
pressing in and clawing away life.

Cafeteria food invades my nostrils,
sickness slowly creeps into my gut.
Feeling evil snake around me in the darkness.
The sound travels,
sometimes laughter.

Sweet candy drifts into my nostrils now,
the sickness gone for only a moment.
Feeling like the world is waiting for me.
The shades are open,
inviting me to go back outside and imagine.
