Blame the Alcohol

Annie sits, watching her TV,
Wondering, when she grows up, what will she be?
Anything but this, she hopes to herself,
While wishing she were anywhere else.

Her father yells, her mothers cries,
She thinks she's all alone.
In retrospect, she knows she isn't
But believes she's on her own.

It's gone downhill since her sister arrived,
Before she came, the family thrived.
Annie wonders why she pretends at all,
When she could give it all up, blame the alcohol.

She thinks people don't care, and they do, but she lies,
Hoping her problems can all be disguised.
And mostly, it works, with her lies, she succeeds,
But that doesnt get Annie the attention she needs.

Again, Daddy yells, but this time, Mommy leaves,
Will Annie ever get just what she needs?
She knows they love her, She loves them too,
But she can't help wishing to start life anew.

But Annie holds her family together, slowly going insane
While late in the night, she's inflicting her own pain,
And Annie still wonders why she ever tries at all,
When she could just blame her Daddy and his alcohol.
