Brick City

I live in a place where bricks dominate
And overtake
The nature I beg for
I’m not asking for much
Just to get away from the dirty street
Where hundreds of pounding feet
Walk.
Each day I look out
Hoping to catch a glimpse of what the American Dream is about
Is it how they say? Large homes with white picket fences?
My eyes search while my fist clenches
I scream to have a home of my own
A place far from the bricks and stone
Far away from the beaten roads
I just want a place that I can call home
