Copper is Greater Than Gold

i remember the days i had you wrapped around my fingers.
back when all we needed was a blue sky and a field of green grass.
but things never seem to stay that simple.
we get older and let go of helium dreams like;
hiding stars and catching wind.
we let them go just like i had to of you and your one track mind.
it wasn't a choice at the time,
but honestly it could have been.
because you were so bent on touching the clouds,
and i was tied so tight to the cement blocks shaped like stars,
that i couldn't have stopped you;
just held you down until you realized the only thing keeping you here was the ribbon between us.
i was so in love with gravity,
i couldn't feel you slipping away form me and my ice cream headaches.

Well, actually it's about a balloon.
No, seriously.
