The wishing well.

One boy stood next to the wishing well
Holding a coin, he had a wish to tell.
Now this one coin was his only treasure
He thought long and hard, just for good measure.

Staring at the coin, he made his decision.
He closed his eyes and lost his vision
Losening his grip, the coin slowly fell
Into the darkness, where not even light dares to dwell.

He held his breath as the coin clattered down
Waiting for the coin to slowly drown
But the sound never came, his eyes started to weep
So horribly upset, he cried himself to sleep.

The boy woke up to the rising sun
Little did he know, his wish was done.
Dragging himself home, broken to the core
Ripped jeans, tattered clothes, even his shoes were tore.

Pushing open the mold-covered door
Slowly walking across the creaking floor
Walked up to his room, and opened the drawer
And to his disbelief, there were four.

A letter from his mother, saying she'd be home soon.
A letter from his father, explain why they've been gone since june
A locket with a picture, "Family" was engraved.
A note saying his wish was granted, his life was saved.

"I wish I wasn't alone anymore."
