You

You

A poem by Ankita

I found you, I thought.
Someone to help me through the years.
I felt safe,
I felt secure.
You grasped my hand,
And helped me along.
I looked up at you,
You smiled down at me.
We laughed and skipped,
All down that road.
But that bump came at me,
Hit me hard.
Jarred me from my world.
I clung to that hand,
Scared of nothing,
Sure of all.
Hanging over that dark abyss beneath me.
I looked up,
Needing to see reassurance.
I didn’t.
You didn’t look at me.
You let my hand go,
You let me fall.
