Doesn't Matter

Take a moment to look around
And tell me what you see.
I see happiness, I see sadness
But most of all, I see me
I see the me that they always do
I see the me that may be

Look around again and tell me
What they think of this
Of you, talking to the hideous I
They think it's amiss
I see that they clearly don't approve
Of what this is

I know you can see it clearly, too
But you ignore the glares
You ignore the whisperings and all
And don't seem to care
And then I take another moment
To glance about and stare

Because, suddenly, it doesn't suffocate
They don't seem to mind
Everything's softening up, and I
There are no words to describe
The feeling welling up and the tears leaking
Because I finally find
It doesn't matter what they think,
And you really are mine.
