The Loner

She sits there from the side.
Wanting to run and hide.

Everyone wants to know
if she'll stay or if she'll go.

No one wants to count her out
She just sits there with a pout.

Secretly she wants to be talked to,
she hopes, before the night is through

She looks around and catches his eye.
Oh, how she loves him. That one guy.

He walks over to her cautiously ,
hoping that no one else will see.

He sits down slowly, little does he know,
she wants to stay and not have to go.

Just as he sits she smiles so bright,
reminding him of the morning light.

He touches her hand, slowly as can be
hoping that she will see,

Past the piercings and the fame
which he carries with great shame

And for once someone will see
what a great guy he can be.

The loner girl looks at him in shock.
She stands as still as a rock.

Her smile widens with great joy
realizing he's a great boy

She holds his hand, so gently
hoping everyone will see

They're much more than the group can see
Together what a great couple they could be

The loner girl finally opened up
and for once everyone else shuts up.

She told the world what they couldn't see
of what other people really could be

Behind the piercing and the fame,
behind the shyness and the shame

Behind the drugs, the sex, the beer
there were real people really here

Hidden behind the popularity and the fame
Inside they were full of shame

All these people couldn't see
what great people they could be.
