Broken Marriage

Just Remember

Do you remember when everything was right?
Before all of our fights, when everything was sure.
Before everything turned for the worst.
I wish there were to be some kind of cure.

A cure for our relationship,
Because romances don’t rewind.
A cure for a broken heart,
Because love can’t be redefined.

Just remember how I took care of you,
And told you that we were meant to be.
Just remember how I worked so hard,
Just to satisfy and to make you happy.

Just remember how I kissed you,
On our wedding day.
Then seven years later, you left me,
Without any words to say.

Told me it wasn’t the same,
Told me we weren’t meant to be.
I evidently saw far surpassed,
What your eyes could see.

I saw the soft hint of love,
Through your eyes.
No sign of heartbreak,
No sign of despise.

You didn’t see anything in me,
You thought I was a liar with no life,
You said I couldn’t compare,
To your ex wife.

I cried for days,
And wept for weeks,
Only to realize you weren’t worth,
All of the tears that slid down my cheeks.

I swore I could change,
To satisfy you,
I love you far too much,
To much to lose.

You didn’t believe me,
Thought it was another lie,
Didn’t accept my promise,
Just left me to die.

If you want to know the truth,
You made my day.
I would do anything,
Just to hear you say...

“I love you baby.”
Like you said when we got married.
Before the arguments,
Before our love was perished.

I will try to remember the good things about this,
Though they are hard to find,
Maybe I’ll make it through one more day...
And see the life I could have if I left thoughts of you behind.
