R.I.P. Panic at the Disco

You came onto the scene at nineteen.
We caught word of you and heard of you.
The boundaries you broke and the young hearts that you took.
But with minds open wide and the sound flooded inside.
You dipped your feet in and we preached your sins.
Your budgeted first tries became our alibis.
You came to our cities with your festivities .
We invited ourselves in packs so we could sing your songs back.
Astonished and proud, we sang them loud.
The first thirteen had never lost their sheen,
But it’s you that had stated, that the fever had faded.
As the cabin demos were thrust away, we just had to trust and pray.
Like the light at the end, the news began to ascend.
The date was set and we began to fret.
Would we love them the same with their new name?
The punctuation lifted and our opinions still shifting.
But the wait was soon over and our ears were poured over.
The songs made us smile and all the while
We danced around and welcomed the pretty odd sound.
We escaped to the highway to see the display.
Our new favorite record. Our young hope restored.
The songs we desired, the ones that never got tired.
The new year came and we had a new aim
That by spring, we would have a new thing.
We watched summer come and dreamt of what would become.
The edge of our seats, we waited for new tweets.
Anything that had mention of a new album ascension.
Dr. A&R teased us and eased us.
Without warning, it happened that morning.
Our stomachs flipped and our hearts ripped.
It fried each brain as we read it again.
We felt our eyes well and our mouths rebel.
We didn’t believe. It just seemed so obscene.
But time passed and the punch line never was cast.
We tried to use clear visions as we were forced to make decisions.
Should we support or retort?
Some of just coped and hoped,
While others brooded and secluded themselves.
We all wept what we were forced to accept.
We wanted you to know that it was a hard blow
From people grown so attached. We have met our match.
But we won’t back down with a frown.
We won’t push away all those good days.
We’ll stand by what you do because together we grew.
And the bonds that have gone beyond,
Will never be broken. Never soft spoken.
We give you our trust built up from the dust.
We hope you will recall those who have been in for the long haul.
Think of it as your debt or duty to make us something filled with beauty.
We’ll forgive you when the time comes, for now we’re just a little glum.

Thank you for everything.
