Little Girl, Teach Me.

Her skin pallid against the cold night
Lips moving rapidly in silent prayer
Those pretty eyes shut tight,
She refuses to look the world in the eye
For the fear of losing
Everything she's fought so hard to gain
It's hard not to wonder
How she's made it this far
Still intact.

Hardly held together on the outside
Each tear in her shirt for
Every time her heart broke
Shattered beyond repair
Yet she holds her composure
Simply because she's too young to give in
It's hard not to wonder
How she still manages a smile
Still intact.

She sews herself together
That girls got a tough mentality
That no one could ever mimic
If it were me
I would of given in to fate
But she takes it day by day
It's hard not to wonder
How she sees the sun everyday
Still intact.

Lovely little girl
Shielded by an unsuspecting love
Take me into your small innocent hands
Darling little lady ever present
Teach me how to smile
To remain intact.
