"I'm going for a walk, okay?"

and through the sunless days, for the explosive nights,
as the thunder falls, over the 10 watt lights.
Like a thousand rays, just split those skies,
where the city falls, for the lifeless eyes.

and it rains indoors for a little while,
near the coffee talk, and the phony smiles,
and the broken lifts, and for sale signs,
and the shoving shops, and the sweating lines.

and we break in threes, for the open door,
where the security's breach, means a little more,
and you're watched and surveyed and statistics and fake,
and your money's you religion, where they give or take.

where it's road works and it's wet paint and it's concrete slabs,
for 'historical' and 'cultural' and tourist maps.
fast currents for the lonely and the bridge is for the damned,
and the lifeboats for the starless, remaining un-manned.

beating hearts for restless snapshots,
any change before the aching world stops?
breaking habits in the open mind,
and time doesn't pass, it's only time.
