Wound

Little girl, hopped around, innocence without a sound
She grew up and forgot how to smile
The boy heard it, and he walked a mile
When she saw him, she was in denial.

Now the girl's locked up
Her soul's bound to get cut
She's in the shadows, bottled up
Still she comes out from time to time
Fresh new gashes on her skin, every time.

Tell me now, oh dear world
How come we've lost one of our pearls?
Is she ever coming back?
Thought he, as he's tugging on his curls.

They both ran, the boy and the girl
Running around in some sun-flower field
They promise eternal love
And under our glance; it's eternally sealed.

But he runs, and the girl stays
He gets married, she promises she'll wait
Their love lasted until the month of May.
Next thing you know; they've both gone away.

What will she ever say?
