A Million Whispered Wishes

Blue,
Flying over my head
Cotton suspended in fantastic shapes,
Sculpted by the forever winds
Cannot stay in one place for long...

An inky backdrop,
Diamonds sprinkled across
Like freckles upon a child's cheek,
Shimmer as they hear
A million whispered wishes.

A trickle of teardrops descend,
Sad gray is where once was brilliant color.
All that is green rejoices in her agony
As she cries.

She cries for the girls of India, cast aside.
For a starving African child, parents long lost
And for the girl on the corner,
Whispering a wish to a diamond in the sky...
