The Truth About Labelling

Why do we label?

I just don’t understand,

How it makes things more simple,

I just don’t think it can.

Why do we think,

That naming someone emo,

Can be fully justified,

By the fact they listen to screamo?

Or is that the metal heads?

Man, I am so confused,

We are all just as bad as each other,

In the end we all lose,

We isolate ourselves,

Just to fit in,

Hello, its fascism people,

No one ever wins.

What about that preppy?

What about the jock?

What about that loner there?

Or the girl who likes to rock?

How are they any different to you?

We are all just people.

Yet we are just as bad as each other,

Our attempts are weak and feeble.

Don’t you see by labelling back,

You are just as bad?

Did it not occur to you?

Well then that’s really quite sad.

So think twice before you whisper,

Oh my god it’s a jock!

Because you are being just like them.

The one’s who choose to mock.

It’s called double standards people,

Something you dis them for,

Look a little bit closer though,

And you will see it’s in the core,

Of all humanity,

It’s sad but it’s true.

Just remember we are all the same.

They are just like you.

So instead of complaining,

And saying that damn prep,

Realise you are acting just like them.

It’s something you have to accept.

Labels do no justice,

So why even try?

Maybe you should ask yourself,

A simple, little why?
