Charades

With every face you see
comes a mask.
Whether it be happy, angry, even sad,
it is a mask nonetheless.

We are children playing pretend,
actors on a stage.

And with every face,
every mask,
we have to dig a little deeper to get past the facades of society
We must push past the world's game of masquerade.

When you love someone though,
the mask fades ever so slightly.

That face lets you in,
as you let it into yours.

And when you find that you need the mask again,
to pretend for the world,
It is nowhere to be found.

Through the troubles and toils of life,
Love is true.
Love is pure.

And when we know the true meaning of love,

We don't need to pretend.
