Rain

Hear the raindrops
Hear the sound.
Watch them crash down to the ground.

Hear the thunder
Hear the roar.
It’s a never-ending pour.

See the lightning
See the flash.
Listen closely for the crash.

I love it all.
The sound, the sight,
The smell, the feel,
The lack of light.

I stand there in it
And let it pour.
It soothes my soul
I’m no longer sore.

I cry and let the tears mix in,
With the puddles by my feet.
The pain has left,
Trapped in those tears,
That now run down the street

I lift my head and feel the rain,
Pour down my tear-streaked face.
It’s taking all my hate away.
Stripped down and washed away.

I stand out there and cry and cry.
Ignoring passing stares.
This rain is my best found disguise,
For the tears falling down from my eyes.
