The Dying Flower

Once upon a time
A wilted flower sat _____dying,
Under the shade of a thriving tree.

The tree stole her light,
Stole her rain,
The tree stole everything
The flower ever ______needed.

_______"Mr. Tree,”
The flower would cry,
____________“Save me, Mr. Tree!”

But the tree refused,
Declaring he was much more important,
No one cared for a simple wildflower.
______“You’re a weed.” He spat.

The flower was astonished.
______“No,” she whispered, “I’m a beautiful flower.”

“If I let you have my water and sunshine,
______Your roots would reach out and kill me.”

The flower grew sad,
Wondering how she’d ever thought
______A silly little flower like her,
______________Could compare to the big, beautiful tree.

So the tree stole her light,
______And she didn’t beg.
He stole her rain,
______And she began to wilt.
The tree stole her everything,
______And she lost hope.

Her light died and soon,
______________She did too.

Years later,
The magnificent tree found himself under the shade
_____Of a bigger, more beautiful tree.

______ “Misses Tree,”
The tree would cry,
___________“Save me, Misses Tree!”

But she refused,
___________“You’re nothing but a weak, fragile tree.
_________________ You’re like a weed.”

Mr. Tree remembered the little flower from long ago,
______And began to cry.
______________It was then he realized that the flower,
____________________Though______small,
_________________________Was a beautiful,
____________________________________Lovely,
____________________________________________Perfect,
Piece of life.___________And he’d murdered her.
