Butterfly.

Write about a butterfly.
You’ll find it’d take forever.
To tell the story of its life;
The cocoon, the caterpillar.

It starts, as a caterpillar
Enters a new dimension.
So lost and full of fear.
Will it survive? What will happen?

And so, into hiding,
The caterpillar goes.
To remake itself, inside out;
To learn and to grow.

And now it emerges,
So transformed; so new!
It returns to its world
With a different point of view.

The world is breathtaking.
It feels anew and amazing.
But the view’s stayed the same;
It’s our frame of mind that is changing.

We are those caterpillars.
We are those butterflies.
You’ve changed our way of thinking.
You’ve changed our way of life.

We’ve learned to be daring.
No longer will we hide.
We’ll dream big, we’ll fly high,
And we’ll all reach the sky.

So, dear school principal,
We’d like to thank you today.
For everything you’ve done for us,
We wish you a happy birthday.
