I Love You for You in the End

I still can't believe you chose a girl like me,
One who listens to bands like Alice In Chains and Creed.
You could have a girl who likes to dance.
But you chose a girl who thought she had no chance.

I still can't understand what makes me so unique;
I don't know what you see in me.
You could choose someone who loves the same things as you,
But you chose a girl who still doesn't understand the sports you do.

I can't comprehend why you like talking to me all the time,
Since I never really talk about thing you'd seem to like.
You could pick the girl with who runs track, or who cheers for your football team,
But you chose a girl who has issues running wild throughout her seams.

I still want to know from you what you love about this girl,
This girl who reads more than she breathes.
Why do you love the way I can't stare at you without giving my head a turn?
Why do you want to be with a girl like me?

You say, “I can't believe you would ever want a guy like this,
Who knows nothing of fancy poetry or wit.
You could have a guy who has power or wealth or both,
But you chose a guy who doesn't understand prose.

“I can't understand why you love the feeling of my hands around yours,
When you could have the hands of someone who could open more doors.
You could have a guy who isn't so prone to mistakes,
But you chose a guy who has had too many apologies to make.

“I still can't comprehend what you see in me,
What could it possibly be down deep?
You could have the guy with the fancy car & big house,
But you chose a guy who loves the way you sound.

“I still want to know what it is you love about his guy,
This guy who plays sports to vent his anger.
Why do you love the way I poke fun at my own pride?
What is you love about this guy who thinks of love as a stranger?”

I kissed your lips & simply said,
“I love you for you, & that's all I can say in the end.”
