You Were Never There

"You were simply never there.
You were never anywhere.

You were never there to give,
You were never there to love.
But I always did forgive you,
You were Mum; I had to.

You had my love,
You always will,
I always will be true.
But remember this, never forgot:
I will always love, but never like you.

Always hurting, always mad,
I would be your castle.
I would be your one safe place,
I would take away your hassle.

I would keep you safe and keep you warm,
And if you could you would agree:
In those dark, cold nights and storms,
You never took care of me."
