SOAR

And there I was:
A whopping 50 students crowding the halls, and I was the only one.
Each one thinking and moving and breathing and living.
But in all respects, I was the only one who was living.
The only one who thinks past every mind to reveal what they're really saying.
The only one who breathes to reach the next day's feats.
The only one who moves so no one can catch me; so no one can stop me.
And yet, I'm the only one.

They say they have the smartest of the brightest.
The top of the top; the most intelligent of them all.
Each one, trained to nod their heads,
To smile on que and answer when called to.
To show the world that their brains are so deep and full of intillect no one has ever met.
Well, my dear, if that is the case, then why am I here?

I am not smart. I have the one element evreyone lacks called common sense;
The one key figure that multitudes of people pass off as brains.
I am not trained to nod my head, and will not bow to anyone.
I cannot smile when I'm facing difficulties, unless I smirk.
I will only answer if I know, and, quite frankly, who does in this filthy place?
I've tried to show my world that my brain is not full of intellect, but individuality
And confidence and creativity.
But no one is looking for that. Not in my world.

In a room full of the brightest people of tomorrow, I am the only one who wants to live for today.

Is that so wrong?

So, before you ask me to... what's the word?
Soar... to new heights, think about how high you really mean.

And there I was:
All pain aside, all sorrow left for another rainy day.
Face to face, enduring the one life I cannot bear to explain.
The one life that lost the one sense of voice.
The voice that tells everyone how painful being intelligent can get.
How awful it really is to obey.
What torment they are really facing when you keep going and going,
And one day find yourself at the bottom, with a pair of strings,
Tied around your legs
And arms
And head
And tape across your mouth.

So the next time you're faced with something you never really chose,
Think about how high you really want to soar.
