One Night Stand

A "ditto" crushed the world into that abandoned bedroom floor,
Made the two of us alone in the cloud of our friends
With our thoughts
With our secrets
With the words neither of us would yet say.
But "ditto" held the key,
As later your mouth pressed against mine,
Your hand on my cheek,
My lips expressed those long concerns of
What-ifs and
Why-nots.
And you said, "Ditto," because you were scared too.
But we were together.
You and I.
Until you said you thought it couldn't last,
And through my aching heart,
I said, "Ditto."
