Every Time He Walks Out The Door

She’s sixteen
But she’s felt this way forever
And every time he walks out the door
A piece of her leaves too

He’ll come back
She says
To herself, as she's alone
He’ll come back
He always does

He packs his stuff
He puts them in the car
And he leaves

Where?
She’s not sure
All she knows is that he’s happier there
Than he is in this house
When will he be back?

He nearly forgets
His hat
And she reminds him
Hugs him goodbye

He shuts the door and she is left
Alone in the house

She’s sixteen
But she’s felt this way forever
And every time he walks out the door
She feels abandoned

But her daddy is only going on holiday
He’ll be back
