Expected to Give

It is hard growing up alone
With nothing to help us drone
The noises of confusion
That creates such an illusion

Causing such a friction
Caused by much addiction
With all of the work we do
And all of the problems to renew

With all of these people left to help
We’re left with pain over which to yelp
Who will make a stand?
To aid us and lend a hand?

Will we be left to suffer forever?
Or is the reason just to make us “tougher”?
To force a burden which we cannot bare
Nor do we have a person to share

With the family who needs your help
Who do not think that you need theirs?
And the mother who left for something better
Then expected a part of you in return?

The people you were meant to rely on, now rely on you
Now it’s become routine, there’s nothing you can do
Just live to fight and fight to live
Because one day someone won’t expect you to give
