Unknown
I see the road stretch before me,
Winding like a dusty river,
And disappearing between
Lush green hills.
I hear an eagle's call,
While it wheels overhead,
Haughty, proud, and distant,
Black against the blue sky.
I taste the cool air
Blowing in off the road
Enticing me forward
With its sweet flavor.
I feel a breeze brush my cheeks
And I close my eyes,
Lifting my face
Into its soft embrace.
I smell the dust from the road
And the grass from the hills
Overpowering the safe familiar
Scent of home.
I sense the pull of the road,
Beckoning me forward,
Promising the world.
And I step out the door
Out of safety and into the unknown.
Winding like a dusty river,
And disappearing between
Lush green hills.
I hear an eagle's call,
While it wheels overhead,
Haughty, proud, and distant,
Black against the blue sky.
I taste the cool air
Blowing in off the road
Enticing me forward
With its sweet flavor.
I feel a breeze brush my cheeks
And I close my eyes,
Lifting my face
Into its soft embrace.
I smell the dust from the road
And the grass from the hills
Overpowering the safe familiar
Scent of home.
I sense the pull of the road,
Beckoning me forward,
Promising the world.
And I step out the door
Out of safety and into the unknown.
