Dark Forest of the Mind

This dark forest that I roam
Is a place I now call home

Where the light shall never touch
For my dimmed eyes even a glimmer is too much

Aimlessly I go
The years creeping by so slow

No small creatures cross my path
For they all fear the predator's wrath

Even the butterflies flee
From the very sight of me

Continuously I wander
The shadows growing ever fonder

Silent cries hear them echo
From the trees I walk below

Their voices are ignored
By a society so deplored

On and on I walk
With no one there to talk

There are no smiles
As I go on for miles

In the dark forest of my mind
A home is all I find
