This or That

With grey eyes
he looks at me
underneath
the maple tree.

They say,
"It's wrong,
and yet so right."
When we met there
that final night.

The crooked grin,
it smiles at me
underneath
the maple tree.

It said,
"This one
is just for you
because you've helped me
through and through"

With perfect lips
he speaks to me
underneath
the maple tree.

They say,
"I'm sorry.
I must go.
I have no choice.
I'll miss you so."

Like a movie,
these are scenes
from once upon a time.

I'm like a stranger -
these memories
surely can't be mine.

The screen goes black.
I sigh, relieved.
I blink, and suddenly
I see:

With brown eyes
he looks at me.
Searching my eyes
intensely.

They say,
"How lucky am I to know
a girl whose eyes
have so much soul?"

The cutest grin
it smiles at me
and tells of feelings
so lovingly.

It says,
"This smile
is just for you.
Cause I enjoy
being with you."

With lovely lips,
he talks to me
and says the words
I cannot speak.

They say,
"I never
want you gone.
Like salt and pepper,
we belong."

So how come
with brown eyes
in front of me,
that shade of grey
is all I see?
