War Sonnet
Heavens show sorrow
As the rain that falls from the skies
And the storm that comes tomorrow
Is the grief of those who will die,
Remember the years
When death gave us no thought
And we wielded the sword and spear
As we were mindlessly taught,
The deeds we now repent
Came effortlessly to the arm
But come dawn our feelings were different
and we wished no one that harm,
we now shall live a life of peace
and hope that, that may give us some ease.
As the rain that falls from the skies
And the storm that comes tomorrow
Is the grief of those who will die,
Remember the years
When death gave us no thought
And we wielded the sword and spear
As we were mindlessly taught,
The deeds we now repent
Came effortlessly to the arm
But come dawn our feelings were different
and we wished no one that harm,
we now shall live a life of peace
and hope that, that may give us some ease.
