Even Darkness Must Pass

The dilapidated countries fight the darkness rising
Few lives are saved
A child mournfully looks at the water
Searching for what cannot be found
Those who remain unscathed hurt in other ways
The need for hope is dire
But such a thing remains obscured
We hasten to help those we can, but it's a meager attempt
For they're so depleted
And the force so relentless
That God only knows if the light will prevail
