The Downpour of the Eternal Flame

They were two lonely hearts,
Just trying to find a friend,
In a world full of cold,
In a world full of darkness,

They were man and woman,
Both living different lives,
But they always intervened,
Just so they could see each other,

They were total opposites,
He was tall while she was short,
He was strong while she was fragile,
He had parents while her parents passed away,

They were young,
But the chemistry was electrifying,
Problem was,
They never knew the connection was there,

They had strong hearts,
Emotions never penetrated the setting,
They trotted down each other's paths,
Without even expressing the "feeling",

But then the day of rain happened,
At eleven pm they met at a park,
Street lamps blasted out light,
And a downpour hit,

The man was hoping for a clear night,
A night of glistening stars,
And a full moon with a glowing ring,
But no, it was a night of clods and violent rain,

The woman was uncomfortable,
And began to head home,
He had to think of something fast,
So he let out a cry,

She faces the man and ask's "What's the matter?"
But her lips were halted by a little black case,
Her silence and her facial expression,
Made him realize that the right time came,

Their clothes got wetter,
But they didn't head for cover,
The man had her attention,
So he began his pouring,

Everything was drenched and the rain became heavier,
But that didn't scare away his honest words,
He said everything that was on his mind,
Hoping that she would be touched,

The words were sincere,
And his heart was at stake,
After his kind speech, he said those classic words,
"Will you marry me?"

He had a feeling she would run away,
This whole thing was spontaneous,
And he didn't think he would get the same love back,
But the simple, "Yes" faded his worry,

He pulled out the ring,
And put it through her finger,
Her smile was priceless,
And her heart was beating quicker,

The flames of passion finally burned proudly,
As they embraced in the rain,
They began a passionate kiss,
A kiss that was filled with luscious bliss,

They might've been friends in the beginning,
But their love could not be denied any longer,
It was time for them to live a shared life,
So their eternal flame could never go out.
