I Remember Those Slow Days

I remember those slow days
Where I looked up and all I saw was the blue morning light
Saw how it held the darkness of the waking day
Those were the days where I could stand on the ground
Where I knew it was solid and wouldn’t fall
Wouldn’t drop me through to the fast paced times
Those cool days where the afternoon was bright and the scenery clear
When every slow tick of time was in my mind
How the twilight slipped in through the windows
How it let the shadows play against the walls
And the beauty when it faded and the soft moon ebbed in
Then there was nothing
A place where time stood still
A reminder of those slow times
Then the day began again
The morning light was no longer blue
There was no ground, just the pounding of moving feet from place to place
Where the scenery was no longer pictures in my mind but blurs of light passing by
When the ticking was never heard just the tock of an afterthought
And the dawn was just something to show that the light was tired too
And there was no moonlight or darkness or pause
Just the sight of closed eyes and reminiscent moments of those slow paced times
Let me sleep and pretend tomorrow will one of those slow days
