Marionette

Rays could not touch the beauty
But the Moon was his to control
Like my own soul
Dancing in the dark, shining
Through the absence of light
He was my savior; he damned me

He appeared in my dreams;
Glowing white like an angel
How was I to know he was
Only a demon in disguise?
His smile too enchanting
Drawing me in, tugging relentlessly
Like one who manipulates
A marionette I was his
Lost in the beauty of my angel

His voice ringing in the night
A melody too sweet for my ears
None could compare to him
All wanted to be him
Immortal souls bowed at his feet
He controlled all with a smile
No one could oppose
He was my savior; he damned me

He appeared in my dreams;
Glowing white like an angel
How was I to know he was
Only a demon in disguise?
His smile too enchanting
Drawing me in, tugging relentlessly
Like one who manipulates
A marionette I was his
Lost in the beauty of my angel

After months of my night visitor
At long last he permitted me
To stay with him for eternity
His grip was iron and then
He revealed his true face
A demon in the guise of my angel
But it was far too late
He was the puppeteer and I
The marionette

I was his.
